Cybersecurity for Women-Owned Veterinary Practices

The same PIMS-ransomware baseline, MFA, and immutable backups every vet client runs — built around the realities of owner-operated and women-led practices, and the procurement signals corporate buyers increasingly ask about.

Why This Page Exists

The profession has changed. The vendor landscape hasn't.

Veterinary medicine has shifted dramatically over the past two decades. Women now make up well over half of practising veterinarians in the US, and the trend is sharper in younger cohorts. Practice-ownership demographics are catching up.

Most of the cybersecurity vendor noise in this sector still assumes a different buyer — different language, different sales motion, different idea of what a practice actually looks like. Owner-operated, women-led practices end up either ignored, talked down to, or sold enterprise-shaped contracts that don't fit.

Our position is straightforward: the same practice cyber baseline every vet client of ours runs — PIMS-ransomware-resistant backups, MFA on Cornerstone/AVImark/ezyVet, EDR, email security, PCI-aligned card handling — sold as a plain 30-minute conversation with a one-page roadmap at the end. That works for the entire profession; it works particularly well for owner-operators.

What This Means In Practice

Three realities we build the engagement around.

A profession in transition.

Women now make up the majority of practising veterinarians under 50 in the US, and women-led practice ownership is climbing fast. Most cybersecurity content in this sector wasn't written with that audience in mind. This page is.

Often the only practice owner.

Many women-owned practices are single-doctor or owner-operated. There's no IT department, no compliance officer, no in-house security lead. The owner makes the cyber decision and lives with the consequences — so it needs to be a decision they can make in 30 minutes, not a 60-page proposal.

Procurement signals matter.

Women-owned practices serving corporate accounts (universities, research institutions, working-animal programmes) increasingly face supplier-diversity questionnaires that include cyber-control sections. We help you answer them honestly, with documentation that holds up.

Honest Answers

The questions we're asked first.

Does Kapacyber serve only women-owned veterinary practices?+

No. We serve veterinary practices generally. This page exists because the demographics of practice ownership have shifted significantly and the cyber-vendor landscape hasn't caught up — we want it to be clear that the same offering, same plans, same pricing, applies fully to women-led and women-owned practices.

Is there special pricing for women-owned businesses?+

No. Pricing is the same for every practice at the same plan tier. We don't price-discriminate by ownership — that's both a legal and a values position. The published plans on our pricing page apply identically.

Is Kapacyber certified as a women-owned business?+

No. We're not currently WBE-certified, WOSB-certified, or otherwise diversity-certified, and we don't describe ourselves that way anywhere on the site. If you require a certified vendor for procurement reasons, we'll be transparent about our status and can refer you to certified partners where appropriate.

How is this different from your main veterinary offering?+

Operationally it isn't — same PIMS-ransomware-resistant baseline, same MFA, same immutable backups, same 8-control practice checklist. The difference is what we focus on in conversation: the realities of owner-operated practices, the WBE/WBENC trade-body landscape, and the supplier-diversity questionnaires from corporate clients.
